Toddler Program

18 months – 3 years

Our Toddler Program at Madison Montessori Academy supports children aged 18 months to 3 years in a vibrant, social setting tailored to their growing curiosity and drive for independence.

Our Approach

We foster a community where toddlers develop self-confidence, self-control, and independence. In our prepared environment, each child moves at their own pace, choosing activities that resonate with their interests and emerging skills.

The Montessori Environment

Self-Directed Exploration

Child-sized furniture and open shelving invite toddlers to select materials that engage their developing minds and bodies.

Control of Error

Carefully designed Montessori materials let children recognize and correct mistakes independently, building grace and courtesy.

Five Learning Domains

Our curriculum covers Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math, and Culture, each nurturing a different facet of your child’s development.

Daily Rhythm

Practical Life
Toddlers learn everyday skills—pouring, spooning, dusting, and food preparation—that strengthen fine and gross motor skills, encourage cooperation, and reinforce order and concentration.

Sensorial
With activities that highlight differences in size, shape, color, texture, and sound, children refine their perceptual abilities and lay a foundation for complex thought.

Language
Through vocabulary-rich lessons, matching games, sequencing tasks, and phonetic awareness activities, toddlers build pre-reading skills and a love for communication.

Math
Hands-on materials introduce one-to-one correspondence, quantity recognition (“as many as”), and comparison concepts (more/less), using numbers up to five in cumulative exercises.

Culture
Exploration of the natural world, music, art, and basic science concepts sparks curiosity and empathy, offering early insights into zoology, botany, geography, and creative expression.

Fostering Independence Through Exploration

We provide a safe, structured environment where toddlers are free to explore, make choices, and build confidence through practical life activities, movement, and early social interactions.
